Terry Chu
Terry Chu, the former Head of Jewellery in Sotheby’s and Phillips Hong Kong. Terry started her career in jewellery industry since the early 1990s and soon she was attracted by the gem world. Within a few years, she completed her study with British Gemmological Association and Gemological Institute of America, becoming a qualified gemmologist by both reputed gemmological institutes, earning the title F.G.A. and G.G..
With her strong gemmological knowledge, Terry worked in G.I.A. Hong Kong as instructor and she joined Sotheby’s Hong Kong in 2002. Responsible for valuation work and curating jewellery auctions in Hong Kong, Terry handled numerous renowned gemstones and jewellery. During her term, she brought the annual auction turnover to the peak, making the record of over a hundred million US dollar transaction figure in one auction. In 2016, Terry join Phillips Hong Kong, founding the Jewellery department and curating the first jewellery auction for Phillips in Asia. In the past few years, she has continued bringing professional valuation opinions and gemmological knowledge to her clients.
